Everything in that interchange is set as Freeway. Waze can't tell the difference between the ramps and the freeway. I don't have any experience with the naming part, but if there were ramps in the middle, it would definitely put a stop to it.

Minimally, set your cloverleafs to Ramp, and the feeder/collector road in between the leaves to Ramp.

Turn the rouge turn restriction to vert.

Why are we speaking French?

I know this isn't the REAL SOLUTION (a fix from Waze), but while we are waiting.... what if you threw down a whole bunch of dummy junctions on the ramp that is being preferred?

For those of us following along at home, here is a "mapcat bowtie", right? Which allows us to restrict U-turns...

Not sure what is meant in applying this to "split road over/under passes"?

I was confused because I simply don't allow CDOT to build any roads that complex in my edit area...

I think you put way to much faith in the omnipotence of local authorities. Around here the motto seems to be to plug up everything and attend to the wreck, (not a bad thing,) but then call in the guy who is off duty and in bed to create the plan the alternate routes for the remaining drivers.

I thinks the rest of the US could learn lots from the CHP, from what I have seen.

It's not the proper way, but you can prevent ramp jumping.

Just don't let the ramps join. For example, the segment selected here
https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=3&l ... FTTTFTTTTT
instead make it two ramps in an X that don't intersect.

Then to get the correct turn/keep right/left where desired, create a Y with a very short dead ending segment. Since it's a dead end waze will never rout on it, but the Y should get the TTS & directions desired.

I can show an example later if needed.

Hi guys,

So, after some research - we have in place today a mechanism to avoid detours. The way it works is - if you go out of a highway and back into it we assume it is wrong. We make the detour only if it saves you several minutes. The reason why it fails here is that the server doesn't know you are on the same highway.
In the I-405 example that started this thread (reported by ircphoenix) - there are two parts of the highway with two different names. At the moment, different names mean different streets for us, or in this case - two different highways. This in turn means that the mechanism described above will not be valid.

One fix for the problem - at least for right now, will be to name both sides of the highway with the same name. With that said, if the two segments have the same name, but belong to different cities, the problem will still exist.

thanks
