Alerts from opposite direction?

Postby AnalogVWPC » Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:58 pm

Sometimes it feels like my android thinks we're in UK, since I'm getting alerts from the wrong side, ie opposite direction. Mostly stationary objects like speed cameras, but also other stuff. I've also noticed that sometimes when I press Report, press opposite side and send it, it comes up as on my side.. Took some screen shots, will upload later.

Has anyone else come across this?

(Yes I've tried searching, but come up empty handed..

Shit. My post went missing due to time out.. Oh well.

I understand. But I think it should be seen on the side it's at, not where it's being reported.

And speed cameras, I tried deleting erronous cameras back in april, they are still there when I check a month ago.. I know about the lag on map editing, but 3 months..? An area manager mentioned two weeks..

I've added a picture of my problems. It sums it up pretty well. The camera IS on the left side, both on the road AND in the app. And I STILL get an alert about it. And that happens quite often. The only thing I can think of in that case, is that someome was driving the opposite direction (of mine), reporting it and adding "other side" for some reason. A wrong reason. But I've experienced it far too many times for it to be a mishap..

I hope it is understandable

If you go to the update map and find this location. Click on the permalink in the bottom right corner. Copy the URL and paste it on this thread so someone can take a look at it.

In the US on the NA editor, for a camera alert, red light cameras have to be pointing in the direction of travel like it is taking a picture of the back of your car. And when I click on them, I get a red dot that has to be on the road. Not sure if it the same for speed cameras, they aren't allowed except for construction zones in my state.

I'm guessing it is facing the wrong way, or was edited and not gone live yet. Our last update on NA was 6-14-12.

if someone drives opposite direction and report an event (you change the direction of event on reporting screen) then you get the warning, but the position of event will be in the other lane, because the reporter position was that, when he pushed the report button.

I hope it is understandable
