I see this happening too. Munched over several roads. For a couple of days the cookies were gone but then they just came back a couple of days later. Any further info on what's happening here?

This is a big problem for me as well. Sometimes entire stretches of road are "jumped over", sometimes it's just a small bit. It's not just intersections but apparently nodes as well. I'm examining some roads I drove on today and see that everywhere the pacman got stuck was a node, intersection or not.

Sometimes driving back over the section works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the car icon is going in reverse or sideways (crabbing!) and that causes the points to not munch, too. I just figured it was my phone, but now I'm wondering if it's something on Waze's end, too.

just my 2¢

I've seen two behaviours. One is that if one crosses a munch segment that is outside the configured route, unless we give the client enough time to reroute there, it may not munch the segment. It does change to pacman, but the road doesn't turn white. I usually force routes ending or passing through the munchable roads to ensure the client knows I'm really passing them. Again, it's weird, because the client knows I'm on that road (the pacman icon), but if the route is nearby, it may not reroute through the segment and never white it at all.

Second, I've also seen a lot of cases where I munch away segments and the segments come back as munchable on the next mapdate. As I also see that some mapdates contains some changes but not other ones (even if they are done on the same day, or even before), I have a feeling that some data is lost / postponed / queued and may probably enter only on the next mapdate, as those roads are correct on the editor and hence I doubt the data was completely lost.

So just munch away again and again every two weeks until it's fixed. Too bad the prices of the fuel ;)

They may come back if nobody has driven the road in the opposite direction. I've seen one-way streets that seemed impossible to clear of cookies.

Munching not always working?

Postby jcb10157 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:02 pm

I've searched and read several topics here, but found nothing similar!

I've been driving trough several roads with the dots no it, but not every time the munching works... Am I missing something?

can someone from Waze explain how does this munching thing works? Is it normal that munched roads still appears as munchable after a few days?

Munching not always working?

Postby kentsmith9 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 11:19 pm

In my case I have recently seen roads I created show as munchable. I drive them and only some show my icon turn into PacMan. Road never turns white. Drive again text day. Same. Other road created at same time showed PacMan, turned white and didn't come back.

I have seen cases when munching the icon does not change because Waze app was busy, but it eventually caught up and turned road white. I will continue tests through next map update.

It just seems odd that the roads are all connected and were created by me at the same time, yet they appear to be going through completely separate steps.

Munching not always working?

In the case of this particular area, I actually disable routing to minimize that possible impact, but it does not help. This one segment is still dotted even though all others nearby, created at the same time, are all now cleared. They have all been driven the same number of times, with the problem area driven 4x more by now. I might delete and recreate this segment just in case.

My wife and I use waze with the same account. Last weekend we drove at some pacman roads for about an hour using her Galaxy S2. In her waze the points are gone.

In my waze (Galaxy S) this streets still have the points..

I already munched these roads right before the last map update (but after the date the update includes changes) but the points appeared again on the updated map. Now we munched it the second time and we have the problem I mentioned above. I don't want to drive such roads over and over again..
