Hamilton

Postby amartinnz » Mon Dec 20, 2010 9:04 am

Hi people,

Have been a Waze user for a few days, based in Hamilton. There are alot of unknown roads in my area, so I have become an Area Manager for Hamilton so I can help get them sorted.

I notice in a few other forums people complaining about area managers that don't create junctions etc correctly and don't connect roads, so has anyone got some documentation on the best practises?

Also, once I have made changes on Cartouche, how long typically until I see these new roads / changes show up on my Waze device?

Welcome to the club! Good on you for seeking out the best practices too! Take a look at the wiki and editing tips, both links in my signature! The videos in particular area very useful and worth taking the time to watch!

Good luck!

Hi and Welcome.

There are two issues in maps.
First it can take 2 or 3 days for update -> live
Subsequently you device might not pick up the changes.
It will eventually, but if Live has been updated you can delete the data cache in your phone.
Settings->Data Usage-> Refresh.

Be sure to always have "Show Connectivity" ticked in your editing tools and check that each road is connected after you add a junction. To do this, click on the road you've just edited and the coloured lines will show which other roads are connected to it and which way the connection goes.

Hi all

I've been added as area manager for north-east hamilton, i live over that area and get out & about quite a bit. I'm going to make a mission of getting as much of the new subdevisions mapped out and updated. so far though, some larger chunks that i have mapped already still have not shown up...

kiwilad30 you have done well around Cambridge, did you do a lot of driving, or somehow get some better aerial photos to get everything mapped out?

combination of driving (have customers out there :) ) and 'other map sources' - started work on Raglan now... bit of a mess there!
Next mission = Rotorua (which looks maybe 50% so far) :geek:

I suspect that figure is a bit optimistic

Looks like Rotorua is next on my hit list

i'm not planning on heading down there for a wee while..
Thankfully there is reasonable Bing imagery for Rotorua, but it's a few meters off GPS coordinates.

I've run out of enthusiasm lately - bit bummed out with my Galaxy S crashing frequently
